Income
To cover the costs of putting on our events we sell tickets to the Fireworks Display and are supported, both financially and with goods and services, by local businesses and our Town Council.
Although we try to put some value to the goods and services provided to us the true worth is far higher. The Town Council allow us to put the event on in the Recreation Ground, their groundstaff help us make the field safe and help reinstate the field and they organise the cleaning of the High Street and nearby roads. Pubs and shops in town, this year The Crown, Hennessey’s Tea Room, Eden Lettings and The Swan, sell our firework tickets. We get fuel, materials, IT support, vehicles and manpower either for free or heavily discounted. And many businesses give generously so that we have a reasonable certainty that we will cover the costs, even if the weather, and therefore turnout, is not great. All our sponsors over the years are listed on our Sponsor page.
Outcome
We were fortunate to have good weather last year and enjoyed a really good turnout for both the procession and the fireworks. Financially this was our best ever year and with our reserves looking healthy we were able to increase the amount raised through the procession’s charity collection.
Donations to Charity
The street collection raised £2,080, which the Society was able to top up to a total of £10,000 for 25 local charities.
